I am Considering Becoming a
Real Estate Agent...

What Should I Know BEFORE
I Jump Into this Career?

"I am considering becoming a Real Estate Agent, but BEFORE I do, can someone please tell me the TRUTH about what I should expect as a Real Estate Agent..."

DOES THIS SOUND LIKE YOU?

Are you seriously thinking about pursuing a career as a Real Estate Agent? Are you one of those people that have thought about it...once, twice, maybe countless times? Do you really get excited about the idea of trying a new career, becoming your own boss and the possibility of making more money?

All of these possibilities really do excite you, but, WAIT...you're not totally SOLD on whether or not being a Real Estate Agent is really the right career path for you or even worth the investment.

Do you know people that have:

  • Gone to Real Estate School, but didn't take the exam?

  • Gone to Real Estate School, passed the exam, but still did not become a Real Estate Agent?

  • Gone to Real Estate School, passed the exam, joined a Real Estate company, but "QUIT" before they really got started?

I know plenty of people that fit into one of those categories. These are people that were fascinated by some aspect of being a Real Estate Agent, but didn't "CALCULATE the COSTS" first! They didn't research the career - ya know, learn the advantages and disadvantages (the pros and cons) - which there are both in this profession.

As you're reading this page, I know that you are very serious about making a decision on whether or not becoming a Real Estate Agent is the right thing to do. I know that you would really like to make a decision on this soon. But, you are cautious. I understand. I know that you need straight talk and honest answers about what to consider BEFORE you take the plunge of investing your time, money and energy. And, please note that your time, money and energy are equally important.

Since, you are sincerely considering this profession, I know the following questions have must have entered into your mind...

  • Should I really pursue a career as a Real Estate Agent?

  • What is required of me if I do become a Real Estate Agent?

  • Do I have what it takes to be successful in this industry?

  • Can I afford to be a Real Estate Agent?

  • How much money can I really make as a Real Estate Agent?

You may be thinking...WOW..."Is she in my head?" How can she be so precise with articulating what I am thinking, better yet, understanding what I need?

I know both what you're thinking and what you need, because I was once where you are today four years ago. Before, I became a Real Estate Agent I had tons of questions (just like you)!

22 Questions You Gotta Ask Yourself BEFORE You Become a Real Estate Agent is one of the BEST tools available for you to get those desperately needed questions answered!

See, I am a planner. I like to research information, weigh out the pros and cons before I make a decision. I value my decision-making and have learned to take full responsibility for their outcomes. Four years ago, I desperately sought inside information about this career and answers to my burning questions.

However, most of the information I found was about "How to Become a Real Estate Agent" or "How to Be a Successful Real Estate Agent." These types of articles would have been helpful, if I had "already" decided that I was going to pursue a career as a Real Estate Agent. But, during my time, I had not yet made that decision.

What I really needed was for someone to "Keep It Real" with me and tell me the scoop on "WHAT BEING A REAL ESTATE AGENT IS REALLY LIKE!" You know, tell me what I should expect (work hours, monthly dues, commission checks, how to get clients, etc). Basically, I needed someone to tell me the TRUTH, so that, I could determine if "I WAS CUT OUT FOR THIS TYPE OF WORK."

I needed to know if becoming a Real Estate Agent was something that I really wanted to do. Would it fit my personality? Could I handle the demands, pressure, or possible stress? I wanted to know "IF IT WAS A GOOD FIT FOR ME, MY LIFESTYLE AND MY WALLET." I didn't want to make any costly mistakes!

I decided to take the plunge and become a Real Estate Agent without having many of my questions answered. However, I regret not knowing then, what I know now. I may have done some things differently.

One thing I did do was "Seek wise counsel." I didn't know too many Real Estate Agents, but the ones that I did know, I tried to talk to them about their career as a Realtor. But, even then I didn't always get the honesty and realness that I was seeking. Sure, they were encouraging by saying, "You should try it!" Or, "I think you'll be good at this!"

Although, I appreciated their positive affirmations...it didn't quench my burning questions. I NEEDED ANSWERS!!! Over the last year I've had SO MANY individuals to ask me about becoming a Real Estate Agent. It has been my pleasure to share the truth with them (because, I believe in "Paying it forward").

I am a Realtor with Keller Williams Realty. I have real, raw experience on the encounters that you must be "prepared" to face if you decide that this career choice is for you.

I love being a Real Estate Agent. It is one of the very best decisions that I've made in my adult life. However, I do know that everyone is NOT cut out to be successful in this industry. My goal is to increase your awareness and help you calculate the costs effectively. Please understand that by "costs" I mean more than just your monetary investment, but your time and energy as well.

Over these last years as a Realtor, I have learned so much about the industry! When people ask me about the pros and cons of being a Real Estate Agent, I tell them the truth.

I don't try to persuade people into becoming Real Estate Agents. I try to make them aware of all the most important details about the profession so that they can make an educated and quality decision for themselves. Of course, I would love for more of you to join me and other fellow Realtors, but only "if" you've had an opportunity to get your questions answered and feel comfortable with venturing into this career.

I have combined the inside knowledge that I have as a Real Estate Agent along with what I "Wish I knew" BEFORE I made my decision to become a Real Estate Agent. By using this combination, I have come up with 22 QUESTIONS THAT YOU GOTTA ASK YOURSELF BEFORE YOU BECOME A REAL ESTATE AGENT! In my professional opinion, these are the MOST important questions to ask, because the answers will truly help you to determine if you want to give this a shot!

Along with getting the answers to those 22 questions, you will also want to learn EVERYTHING about each one of these topics:

  • The advantages of being a Real Estate Agent

  • The disadvantages of being a Real Estate Agent

  • Why being a Real Estate Agent is NOT a hobby

  • How being a Real Estate Agent is like "Running a business"

  • Knowing what traits and characteristics to possess

  • Assessing "Why" you want to become a Real Estate Agent

Let's explore, "Why being a Real Estate Agent is NOT a hobby." You would not want to invest your time, money and energy into becoming a Real Estate Agent just as a hobby, recreation or past time activity.

Being a Real Estate Agent is going to "Cost you money EACH MONTH." Therefore, you can't sit around and twiddle your thumbs. You must possess drive, discipline and hustle so that you can "justify" paying your monthly and yearly dues. These monthly dues have to be paid every month whether you sell a home or not! So, you can see why this profession cannot be treated as a hobby.

And, most importantly, you gotta sell some houses in order to make MONEY! If not, you won't be able to maintain the expenses that are attached to being a Real Estate Agent.

I mentioned above, that "Being a Real Estate Agent is like "Running a Business." If you become a Realtor, you are essentially running your "Own business." You set your own hours, schedule, even your salary. Everything that is produced (whether good or poor) is controlled by "YOU!"

If you are not assertive, innovative, creative and driven by challenges you may not do well in business for yourself. But, if you have those attributes listed above; and the thought of having the freedom, flexibility and unlimited income potential gets you "pumped up" then you have a good chemistry that is essential to be a successful Real Estate Agent.

I would love to share with you ALL of the knowledge that I have obtained over the years, but simply cannot convey everything to you on this one page.

But, just for you, I've written a dynamic ebook that answers all 22 of those questions below, PLUS a "Behind the Scenes" look at the life of a Real Estate Agent. In this ebook, I am sharing personal information about how much I've made over the last few years, my experiences, and real talk about this career to help you make a good decision about becoming a Real Estate Agent.

FROM MY EXPERIENCE AS A REALTOR FOR 7 YEARS, I HAVE NARROWED DOWN THE TOP 22 QUESTIONS THAT YOU MUST HAVE ANSWERS TO BEFORE YOU INVEST IN THIS CAREER:

I HAVE ANSWERED 22 CRITICAL QUESTIONS with real, detailed answers. I did not leave any "GRAY AREAS" for you to figure out. I see it like this; if you decide to become a Real Estate Agent - I am happy. But, if you choose not to become a Real Estate Agent - I am still happy. Either way you choose, you deserve to have enough knowledge to make the right choice for you. So, if I can motivate you to take the plunge; that's awesome! And, if my truth keeps you from jumping into what could be a pool of regret for you; that's great too!

I simply wrote this book as a "specific niche" to help people that are in search of the truth about this career. There is not a lot of information available for you on this highly specific topic; which is why I wrote it. I am sure you had to search through many websites before finding my little website (smile) - but, you are going to be so glad you were patient and found this page. My desire is to provide answers for you that I so desperately needed when I was in my decision making stage.

The purpose of my ebook is to teach you all about the advantages and disadvantages of being a Real Estate Agent...from another Real Estate Agent BEFORE you invest your time, money and energy.

If you are truly considering becoming a Real Estate Agent, please don't make your FINAL decision UNTIL after you have read this ebook. I guarantee you that it will: 1). Confirm your decision to pursue this career; or 2). Keep you from making a costly mistake. No matter what you decide, make your decision AFTER you've read this ebook!

Hello Tranett,

Hi Tranett,

I got a chance to read your eBook, it was very informative. I honestly never knew exactly what it took to become a realtor, except going to school and taking an exam. I learned so much; like I had no idea that you as the realtor hires the real estate company. I always thought that I could go to school, get licensed and go work for a real estate company, just like I would at any other job.

Before reading your book, I never knew of the monthly and yearly fees that were associated with being an agent. My thoughts again was, I get hired by a real estate company and work through them. I also never knew that as an agent I would have to find my own clients. My thoughts were that buyers seek the company as a whole and agents were assigned clients. Again all mind blowing facts (at least for me).

Again I would like to thank you for enlightening me with your knowledge of being a realtor (you are an excellent realtor), I learned so much, but I question my ability to be able to get out there and find potential clients, although I think I could sell a house. Now that I know all expense that come alone with real estate, I really have to sit and weigh my option, and make sure that I am financially able to conquer this endeavor.

Sincerely,

- Patrice

Best Realtor E-Book Yet!!!!!, January 8, 2013

This review is from: 22 Questions I Gotta Ask Myself BEFORE I Become a Real Estate Agent (Kindle Edition)

I have been thinking about a career change into real estate but, I just wasn't sure about what direction to take and if becoming a Realtor was the best move. Hearing all the things on the media, I was nervous! So, I got online to search the web and I found a lot of books on Real Estate but nothing on becoming Realtor and the real truth about it in depth. Then, I search on Amazon and this book came up, and when I seen the title I said " this is amazing"! So I read the description on about the book and reading half of the description I knew this was the one and I was right! This book is amazing, all the questions I had about this career, is in this book! I love it and I am now getting ready to enter into Real Estate school in 2 weeks!

- Derick

This eBook was very helpful. If you are on the fence and are having trouble deciding one way or the other this could really help you to make that final decision. It is realistic and gives you a lot to think about you just need to be honest with your self evaluation (Purchased on February 9, 2013 via AMAZON)

3/13/13 Update I really thought about the contents of this publication long and hard. It gave me the true reality of what it would be to become a real estate sales person. It wouldn't be easy and it would take a lot of hard work. It didn't promise a ton of money or a glamorous life. It was truthful and honest. Since then I made the decision to enter real estate school and enrolled. I am about 3/4 through now and I have a brokerage lined up to work with as soon as I pass the license exam, hopefully early April. It is going to be a lot of hard work. But once again this eBook really helped me to truly evaluate myself honestly and came to the decision real estate may be for me. It helped me to know what I was getting myself into before I went in with both feet. My estimation you couldn't read a better book to evaluate if you may be right for a real estate career.

Hi Tranett,

Just wanted to send a quick email to let you know how much I enjoyed your book. I am currently a successful wedding photographer in Knoxville, TN with a dream of becoming a Real Estate Agent. Formally in banking and insurance, I decided to take up photography 6 years ago and before I knew it, it became a full fledge business. Your book really clarified questions I wanted answered before "interviewing" prospective brokers. I wanted to go into my scheduled meeting with these brokers armed with knowledge, and I feel like I will do just that. Thank you for being open, honest and smart enough to write this great piece of information!

Best of luck to you in the coming years!!

-Brittany
